Octane
One crisp September day, an overly-eager rebel without a cause strapped into his Porsche 550 Spyder in preparation for an upcoming race. Maybe it was the feeling of freedom that fueled his fearlessness, or perhaps his carelessness was caused by a young man's idea of invincibility--either way, the icon ignored the several warnings he had received from local officials that he was driving too fast. As he sped through the dusty desert, only the infamous James Dean knew what was going through his mind when an opposing driver's car eased into his path.
They say the good die young. After Dean's death, the collectors who would come to own the Spyder would too perish in its wrath.
Was the classic cursed? How much can we attribute to coincidence?
Nobody knows ... nor will they ever find out.
